BOTOX® for Hyperhidrosis

BOTOX® injections can reduce excessive sweating caused by the condition called hyperhidrosis.
Hyperhidrosis is a medical term for excessive or abnormal sweating. This term is used when a person might sweat profusely, even when environmental conditions do not necessarily call for sweat production, such as when it’s cold out. BOTOX® has been approved by the FDA to be used to treat hyperhidrosis in the underarm area, and it can also be applied to other areas where excessive sweating might occur, such as the hands, feet and face.

The condition of hyperhidrosis causes a person’s nerves, which signal heat production to occur, to become overactive; nerves typically only triggered when body heat rises. This creates excessive sweating at inappropriate times, often leading to discomfort or embarrassment. BOTOX® works by blocking those overactive nerves, and interrupting the signals, preventing the production of excessive sweat.

Ponte Vedra Vein Institute provides BOTOX® treatments for hyperhidrosis. So if you believe you might have this condition, call us today to schedule your FREE consultation (904) 280-0600.

BOTOX® for TMJ and Teeth Grinding

This can be an effective alternative treatment for TMJ to reduce jaw pain and tension headaches.

TMJ

When BOTOX®, an alternative treatment to a displaced temporo-mandibular joint (TMJ), is injected into the affected face muscles, relief from soreness and discomfort is found. If the TMJ becomes fatigued an individual will likely begin to experience difficulty doing everyday tasks such as chewing and speaking. If left untreated, this can also lead to tension headaches and sharp pains.

Teeth Grinding

A relief mechanism for Bruxism, the official term for excessive grinding of the teeth or jaw clenching, has recently been realized through BOTOX®. By injecting botox into the muscles near the jaw, signals that tell your muscles when to contract are blocked, relieving tension. This has been seen to relieve headaches, jaw pain, muscle tension as well as prevent tooth damage. This is a great choice over alternative relief plans such as night guards that only protect the result of the grinding, because BOTOX® actually provides relief to the issue at hand.

PRP for Rehabilitation

Platelet-rich plasma (also known as blood injection therapy) enhances the body’s natural ability to heal itself, and is used to shorten recovery time from acute soft tissue injuries.
PRP can be injected into areas with injuries, most commonly seen in athletes. It improves the healing process in tendons, ligaments, and muscles. PRP has been most effective on chronic tendon injuries, like tennis elbow. Other injuries that it can improve include hamstring injuries, knee sprains, and achilles tendonitis. It has even shown to improve arthritis in the knee. It can also be used after surgery to help the tissues heal.

How stem cells and PRP work well together

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is quickly becoming the go-to formula when it comes to treating joint or tissue damage, to help promote accelerated healing. This cutting edge process involves having your own blood drawn in-office, your platelets are then separated from your other blood cells. Then, to increase the concentration of the platelets, they are put through a process called centrifugation. This newly increased concentration is then combined back with your remaining blood, aiding in the regeneration process of healthy new cells. PRP is a very effective treatment, and science is beginning to discover that when combined with stem cells, the results are even more impactful. Stem cells are impressive due to their ability to grow into whatever you need them to be. There are two main sources where we can collect your own stem cells, and each location has its own built-in code and growth potential. Stem cells derived from bone marrow, have the ability to produce cartilage, and these are typically used in treating arthritic conditions and sports injuries. Stem cells derived from fat tissue are the ones typically combined with platelets to heal an osteoarthritic joint, by helping to regrow cartilage in the injection area.

The process of combining PRP along with stem cells is designed to treat the entire joint, as opposed to a single area plagued by injury where simple tissue regeneration is adequate for healing. They work in combination with one another through regenerative medicine by creating an environment where the platelets provide the information the stem cells need in order to help stimulate proper and effective regrowth of cells. By combining these two procedures, they work in conjunction with one another to boost the healing properties of one’s own body, with the stimulation of healthy tissue growth, exactly where treatment and regrowth are necessary, without the use of surgery.

Stem Cell Therapy

Learn about how Stem Cells can help with pain relief, muscle tears, Plantar Fasciitis and more.

If you suffer from persistent muscle and joint pain caused by inflamed tendons or injury, stem cell and PRP therapy is right for you. If chronic muscle and joint pain affect your shoulders, elbows, hips, knees, shins, or feet it can be treated effectively without surgery or addictive painkillers. Get rid of your tennis elbow, heal your plantar fasciitis, help your knee pain or Golfer’s elbow, be pain-free in as little as 30 minutes. Since there is no surgery involved the only restriction needed is to abstain from physical exertion at least 48 hours after treatment.

Stem Cell and PRP therapy is right for you:

  • Pain relief from a chronic injury
  • Arthritic Pain (Shoulder, Elbow, Knees, Hips and Feet)
  • Accelerating the recovery of muscle tears.
  • If you’re an athlete and wish to get back to your sport as soon as possible.
  • Avoiding surgery
  • Plantar Fasciitis

What Are Stem Cells?

In our office, we use Adult stem cells as well as amniotic stem cells to heal your body. Additional stem cells are harvested from either your own fat tissue or bone marrow.

Stem cells have a unique ability, which is why they can help injuries heal. A stem cell has the capability to turn into other types of cells, and also, the ability to self-renew. In other words, when there is an injury to the joint, to the tendons, muscles, or ligaments, stem cells can turn into any one of these types of tissue, creating new healthy tissue and continually create more of the same new tissue.

What Is Stem Cell Therapy?

We are all born with Stem Cells, which are cells that can repair, recover and reboot your system anywhere in the body. They have many functions including transforming themselves into different types of new healthy tissue that the body needs at any given time. During an injury, where there is pain, the damaged tissue is repaired by sending new cells, growth factors and inflammation to heal and replace damaged tissue with healthy tissue. Stem cells placed in a damaged area such as injuries or hair loss with accelerate the repair process due to the concentration of repair cells in one location.

During the Stem Cell injection procedure, Dr. Deacon-Casey adds a concentrated dose of stem cells to the injured area giving the body that jump start as well as additional healthy cells to heal the injury. Damaged tissue is largely restored and new tissue helps to stop pain, create increased mobility, regrow hair or improved skin with a new glow.

Stem Cell Therapy is approximately a 1-hour procedure, is safe, and offers the opportunity to heal or partially heal severe medical conditions and injury without the invasiveness, risks, and long-term rehabilitation of surgery.

There are no guarantees to the effectiveness of Stem Cell Therapy, however it has been used for centuries in medical procedures and has a proven track record to help in the recovery of certain acute or chronic medical condition and sometimes prevent the need for surgery altogether. What is Treatment Like?

Stem Cell Therapy begins with an in-person or on-line consultation with one of our specialists to determine if you are a candidate for Stem Cell therapy. Your complete medical history id reviewed by a physician. All available previous testing including x-rays, CT, US and MRI’s are reviewed by Dr. Deacon-Casey. If indicated, new x-rays and/or MRI’s may be ordered. Once determined that you are a candidate for Stem Cell therapy you can be on your way to a pain-free life.

This treatment aligns with your body’s natural healing process and as such, it may take some time before you begin to see improvement. The tissue takes approximately 2-3 months to repair itself but many patients note decreased pain and a change in their condition within a few weeks.
