Aerolase Skin Treatment: Everything You Need to Know

August 26, 2022

Aerolase laser is the latest skin treatment and is all the rage among skincare enthusiasts. But not many know what this treatment entails and how they can use it to improve their skin.

Aerolase is a skin rejuvenation treatment used to keep your skin looking young. Aerolase treatment is also helpful in treating various skin conditions in people of all skin types. Learn more about this state-of-the-art skin treatment below.

Who Can Benefit From Aerolase Treatment?

Certain skin treatments do not work for some skin types. Thus, you may find that while one treatment works for one person with acne, it may aggravate another person's acne or yield no results. Aerolase laser takes the crown as a versatile skin treatment for everyone.

Aerolase laser works for patients of any age, skin tone, and skin type. Some conditions you can treat with Aerolase include:

  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Age spots
  • Acne and acne scars
  • Rosacea
  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Melasma
  •  Ingrown hairs

If you have been excluded from specific laser treatments because of your skin tone, you may wonder what's different about Aerolase laser.

Many lasers target dark areas on your skin, and the treatment may not be very effective if there is insufficient contrast between dark spots and the rest of your skin. But that is not the case with Aerolase laser.

How Does Aerolase Treatment Work?

Aerolase treatment uses an ultra-rapid pulse that lasts for about 650 microseconds. The 650-microsecond high-energy pulse from the Aerolase handpiece lasts shorter than the skin's thermal relaxation time. Hence, the skin has time to cool itself between every pulse, limiting the effects of the laser on the targeted area.

Only the acne scars, skin tags, or other targets of the treatment retain the heat from the Aerolase laser, and other parts of the skin do not get hot. The speed of the Aerolase pulse reduces your risk of burns. Because the skin has adequate time to cool itself, you do not experience the burning sensation that is common with other laser treatments.

How Long Does Aerolase Treatment Take?

Aerolase treatment only takes a few minutes, which makes it ideal if you have a busy schedule. Some patients see results immediately after the first session. However, it may take a couple of sessions to resolve the skin issue completely.

The number of sessions you need depends on the severity of your skin problem. But, because this is a fast-acting treatment, you may need fewer sessions than you typically would with other laser treatments.

During your first session, your skincare physician examines your skin and creates a personalized treatment based on their assessment of your skin condition.

What to Expect During the Treatment Session

When you arrive for your treatment session, you should ensure your skin is free of makeup, sunscreen, and any topical treatments. Before administering any treatment, you have a consultation session with your physician. They may ask questions about your skincare routine and your skin problem.

After your physician establishes your problem areas, they prep the treatment area. First, the physician guides the laser across your entire face. This is referred to as a global treatment, and it works to kill the bacteria on the skin's surface that causes breakouts.

The physician then goes in with the laser a second time, targeting the areas with the skin issue. The second step is referred to as spot treatment.

Nothing is as disappointing as spending money on a skin treatment only for it to yield no results. With Aerolase laser treatment, you can avoid such disappointments. Aerolase treatment is more gentle on the skin than other laser treatments and usually yields better results.
